Secure your next REMOTE ROLE with one of the most innovative digital-led public services in Wales

If you’re looking for a remote role that you can make your own within a training or delivery role then look no further, one of these new opportunities within CDPS could be for you or someone you know.

First of all, who is hiring? Well, it’s Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS). They bring Welsh public service professionals and digital experts together to deliver better public services for Wales. They focus on 3 core capabilities:

      • Creating shared digital standards, building professional communities, and sharing knowledge
      • Building skills and capability and a pipeline of digital talent
      • Creating ‘digital squads’: multidisciplinary teams who work in partnership with organisations to design and deliver better services around the needs of the people who use them

CDPS have made a commitment to actively hire and promote more individuals from a range of backgrounds, not only have they partnered up with SyncD DEI Consulting, and work closely with their Lead DEI Consultant, Alicia Richardson for ongoing DEI support.

They recognise that British citizens from ethnic minority backgrounds sent 60% more CVs on average to get positive feedback from employers, compared to their white counterparts who had the same skillset, experience, and qualifications. (Source: Nuffield College’s Centre for Social Investigation (CSI). CDPS recognise that over 1 million disabled people in the UK are denied opportunity to work (According to a 2022 survey from the Valuable 500).

So, they would like to do all they can to embrace equality of opportunity irrespective of disability, neurodivergence, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, gender expression and gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, culture, or religion.

They encourage all applicants to apply for open positions even if you don’t meet all the written requirements, we’re open to meeting you and seeing how you can add to our organisation.

Most importantly what is it like to work at CDPS? Sophie, Executive Assistant who recently says:

“I joined CDPS as Executive Assistant to the job-sharing CEOs, Myra, and Harriet, in August 2022. From the first hour of my first day, I felt welcome and part of this great team. CDPS is a very professional, yet fun, place to work and I learn something new every day from the wealth of skills offered by the various divisions. Everyone, from the top down, is totally approachable and more than happy to help and answer any questions you may have. The company motto should be “There’s no such thing as a stupid question!”

Some of the benefits you will receive should you decide to apply for a position with CDPS include:

To give applicants event more reassurance on joining CDPS and feeling like it’s a safe place, some of the policies CDPS are working on include:

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity Code of Conduct – This policy ensures that from the top down we are committed to being vocal about our anti-racism statement and our commitment to EDI strategy, we ensure that training and development is accessible to all as well as ensuring team members feel safe to report any EDI issues they see or experience.

Advance Salary Policy – Provides clear and guiding principles for the company’s commitment to be fair, competitive, and to have appropriate pay for employees.

Anti-Harassment and Bullying Policy – CDPS recognises that all employees have a right to work in an environment in which the dignity of individuals is respected and which is free from harassment and bullying. It is committed to eliminating intimidation in any form. CDPS recognises that harassment and bullying can occur both in and outside the workplace, such as on business trips or at work-related events or social functions.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy – The purpose of this plan is to help an employee and their manager have supportive conversations about their mental health and wellbeing.

Pregnancy and Nursing Policy – CDPS recognises its duty to ensure the health and safety of pregnant or nursing employees is not put at risk by the work that they undertake. All reasonable measures will be taken so that employees who may be pregnant are employed without risk to their own health or safety or that of their unborn children.

Transgender staff support policy – CDPS recognises that transgender and non-binary people are entitled to fair and equal access to employment. There is a wide spectrum of gender diversity in society, and traditional gender stereotypes do not reflect the lives of our staff and potential service users.  Everyone has the right to live with dignity and privacy in the gender with which they identify, and that there must be no exceptions to this with a transgender or non-binary member of staff.

To create equity in recruitment, CDPS provide all questions prior to the interview so all candidates have the chance to bring their best selves to interview. They sift all CV’s based off an objective scoring method and ensure that the below important accessibility points are respected by hiring managers during interviews:

      • Ensure closed captions are available on video.
      • Don’t judge candidates on poor eye contact.
      • Give people space to gather their thoughts before replying.
      • Reassure candidates if you feel they’re rushing or are nervous.
      • Be prepared for interruptions and be accommodating if they happen.
      • Allow for people to talk with cameras off.
      • Be respectful of time, if it looks like you’re going to run over, ask if this is ok.
      • Any background is fine.
      • Be clear that you are happy to repeat or reword any question if necessary.

CDPS aren’t here to try and trip you up during interviews, they appreciate the opportunity to understand your experience in more detail.

CDPS acknowledge that this is just the start of creating a truly inclusive culture and commit to continuously reviewing the way that we work as well as actively listening to our employees.
